MOUNTAIN BIKE TOURS

Come and join us as we explore Margarita Island by mountain bike. Our mountain biking guide, Big Al, is an avid mountain biker, with tons of experience on rugged Canadian single and double track trails. Since we moved to El Yaque, he has created three different and exciting tours.

1. The Musipan Tour

This tour can best be described as the ‘warm-up tour’, as it explores the sights near El Yaque. Bikers can expect to ride on a variety of terrain, from wide grasslands, to rocky desert double track, to scenic seaside trails through a fishing village, and across a ‘salina’ or salt flat.

Riding time: 1 – 1.5 hours

2. The Macanao Tour

Macanao is a spectacular, government protected natural park that encompasses most of the western side of Margarita Island. This “cruising” tour winds right along the ocean on the northern side of the island, allowing our guests to enjoy spectacular scenery, including the “natural stone bridge”, unspoiled virgin beaches, and quaint fishing villages. The single and double track trails have been fashioned by motor cross racers across hard desert and rocky terrain. Photo opportunities are many, and are encouraged.

Tour time: 4 – 5 hours including transportation, actual riding time: 1.5 hours

Transportation provided: Big Al has engineered a very cool bike rack that fits onto the back of our pick-up truck, and has the capacity to carry 6 bikes. An additional vehicle will provide transportation for the riders.

Also provided: hydration and snacks.


3. The Guamache Tour

Leaving directly from El Yaque, our “Guamache” tour will make you sweat, as the trails wind up one side of the mountain, and down the shoaly, rocky other side. (Advanced skill level required – or you can just walk down!) Beautiful views of the ocean give way to grasslands as the trail transitions from rocky single track to cacti forests.

Riding time: 2.5 hours

*Please note: All tours leave the No Wind No Cry compound at 7:00 a.m. to ensure that we will have you back to the village in time to go sailing. All levels of riders are welcome!
